ICJ to articulate decision in Kulbhushan Jadhav case at 3:30 pm today



New Delhi/The Hague: The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will on Thursday articulate its decision on India's allure looking for suspension of capital punishment granted by a Pakistani military court to its national Kulbhushan Jadhav.

"An open sitting will happen at 12 twelve (3.30 pm IST) at the Peace Palace in The Hague, amid which Judge Ronny Abraham, President of the Court, will read the court's choice".

The ICJ managing likewise made it clear that "pending the meeting of the court, the President may call upon the gatherings to act in such a path as will empower any request the court may make on the demand for temporary measures to have its fitting impacts."

The choice comes after India on Monday looked for the court's intercession for a quick suspension of capital punishment of purportedly spy Jadhav, expecting that the Indian national might be executed even before the ICJ chose the case.

India conducts second successful test of Guided Pinaka rocket

NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday conducted the second successful test of the Guided Pinaka rocket from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) launch pad at Chandipur in Odisha.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired the Pinaka Multi Barrel Rocket System around 12.45pm from the ITR in the presence of senior artillery officers, sources said.

According to sources, the range of the rocket has increased from 40 to 70km with an improved accuracy from 500m to 50m.

On January 12, the first test flight of the improved version was conducted by the DRDO.

The Guided Pinaka is developed jointly by Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), Research Centre Imarat (RCI) and Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL).

India at present is operating two regiments of Pinaka and has ordered for two more regiments. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) last year cleared a proposal for six additional regiments at a cost of Rs 14,633 crore.
